FAQs for attending the ICMERS-3 conference

Arrival in Saudi Arabia

On arrival at Jeddah Airport, take the pre-arranged taxi from arrivals. The driver will be waiting next to the giant aquarium with your name on a board.

On arrival at KAUST, you should present your passport/iqama/ID to security at the main gate.

What should I wear?

Short, transparent, or revealing garments are not appropriate. For men, proper attire means pants and collared shirts. For women, proper attire means tops with sleeves, pants, and skirts of modest length. Non-Muslim women do not need to cover their hair with a headscarf at KAUST or traveling around the country- unless you are entering a place or worship.

How can I navigate the KAUST campus?

We recommend you download the KAUST Central application:

This includes a wide range of useful information about life on the KAUST campus.

What if I have any dietary concerns?

If you have any allergies or a food-related medical condition that we should be aware of, please inform our admin team.

Please note: all pork products or alcohol are prohibited within Saudi Arabia.

Are there medical facilities at KAUST?

Our on-campus health clinic is an ultramodern facility offering outpatient primary care, emergency care, selected specialty care and a full-service pharmacy which dispenses prescription and over the counter (OTC) drugs.

Please note, you will need to check your private insurance to ensure you are covered for your travel to KAUST and leaving from KAUST back to your home country.

Other useful information:

For transportation inside KAUST, we have On Campus Bus. The on-demand bus comes when you need it and takes you where you want to go on campus and residential areas of KAUST.

To use the on-demand bus, kindly download the Rekab app available on Google Play Store or Apple App Store.

Operates 7-days per week during non-peak hours.

  • Workdays from 6:00 P.M. to 1:00 A.M.
  • Weekends/Holidays from 6:30 A.M. to 01:00 A.M

Tips to consider when using the on-demand bus:

  • Remember you can book for multiple passengers – and you don't even need to be one of them. You can book a ride for a member without joining them on the bus.
  • Booking is required. We recommend using the Rekab app to book your journey, however, a smartphone is not required to book a trip with the on-demand bus; you can call the Saptco helpdesk for booking assistance at 012-808-5222 between 6:00 A.M. and 12:00 A.M.
  • Book a little ahead of time. For example, if you want a bus to pick you up as close to 3:10 as possible, don't wait until 3:10 to make your request – start making your request at 3:00.

For Peak hours, we have Color- Coded bus Service Bus-Services (kaust.edu.sa).

Also, here https://www.hungrycampus.com/ is the list of the restaurants available inside KAUST; they have delivery service.
